Fareham Borough Council has launched a public consultation to give residents the opportunity to have their say on a new way for social housing tenants to swap homes.

Known as a draft mutual exchange policy, eligible tenants have the right to exchange their home with another, referred to as a 'mutual exchange'.

The policy provides comprehensive information regarding the process and the supporting legislation for tenants interested in exchanging their homes.

The consultation will run until Monday, September 16.

Its purpose is to gain feedback from council housing tenants on the policy document, to ensure that the mutual exchange process is clear, concise, and easy to follow.

Executive member for housing at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Fred Birkett, said: “The Mutual Exchange process can be complicated, so we want a policy that is clear and easy for our tenants to understand.

“I encourage tenants to take the time to review the document to ensure that they have their say on our proposed approach moving forward.”
