Police in Gosport have labelled themselves ‘the fun-sponges’ after seizing alcohol from a group of underage drinkers.
Officers in Gosport spotted a group of teens enjoying their summer break near to the Elson Library on Chantry Road.
It soon became clear to the officers that the group may have been attempting to have a little too much fun during there time off school.
Writing on Facebook, an officer involved wrote: “The fun-sponges strike again - if you think that strong alcohol, plus 16-year-olds, plus public space and a Friday afternoon is good maths then this post is not for you I'm afraid.

“On our usual patrols around our hot spots, we stopped outside Elson Library to speak to a group of youths, it was here that we noted a blue carrier bag with a wine bottle sticking out of it.
“None of the group were old enough to be in possession of alcohol so the usual questions were asked, and the usual answers were received.
“They were all good kids, they gave us their parents details who have been contacted and we went on our way.
“You'll have to read to the end to find out what happened to the alcohol, not really - we poured it down the drain.”
