A coffee shop in the heart of Ocean Village has closed less than a year after opening.

The last coffee was poured at Dock House on Sunday due to "factors out of our control", the owners confirmed.

The shock announcement was made on the cafe's Instagram page on Sunday night.

Owners Charlie and Will said: "It is with a heavy heart that we let all our lovely, loyal customers know that Dock House has served its last coffee.

"Due to factors out of our control we are not able to operate from our unit any longer."

Talking to the Echo, the pair said: “As a concept it works really well, there were so many factors out of our control that have lead to this.

”We absolutely loved our locals, the residents, the Saints women’s team, our members.

“We took so long to painstakingly source the very best of everything from teas and coffees to pastries, cookies and brioche.

”We are heartbroken that we don’t have the opportunity to continue to provide that to our lovely customers.

“A huge thank you to everyone who supported us over the last year.”

The popular coffee spot was opened by couple Charlie Gray and Will Elgeti at the end of August last year.

The pair were keen to make it "more than just a workspace and coffee shop" and instill a sense of community.

It is not yet known what will become of the space at Unit 4, The Hawkins Tower.

Speaking at the opening, Will, 31, said: “This is a premier mooring on the south coast with no coffee shop."

Charlie, 29, said she was inspired by her working experience during the Covid-19 pandemic to launch the business.

She said: “We both worked for corporate companies, and before Covid, there was never the option to work from home, and even after Covid it was a real struggle to do so."
