A councillor has warned residents to avoid the area when demonstrations take place in Southampton city centre tonight.
This comes after a list of protests were published on social media platform Telegram, including a demonstration taking place in Southampton tonight, following the fatal stabbing of three children in Southport last week.
Southampton Stand Up To Racism will also hold a counter-protest at The Peace Fountain in East Park at 7pm, in response to riots sweeping across the country.
Cllr Toqeer Kataria urged members of the public to “exercise caution.”

He said: “A potential far-right demonstration is organised for today at 8pm, specifically around Grosvenor Square, targeting the immigration offices and potentially London Road and Bedford Place areas.
“We urge everyone to exercise caution and avoid the protest area to ensure your safety, as such events can be unpredictable.
“Southampton is a city of sanctuary, and all ethnicities, religious and non-religious, are integral to our diversity.”

He added: “Fascism, Islamophobia, and racism have no place in our city. Therefore, if you witness any disturbances or feel unsafe at any point, please report these issues to the police immediately.”
The councillor’s warning comes after multiple businesses announced they would be closing early today in order to ensure the safety of its staff.
Café Thrive, based in Hanover Buildings and Fit 4 Her gym, in London Road both informed followers on Facebook that they would close early to avoid the protests.
The cabinet member for compliance and leisure went on to say that the council was working to “maintain public safety.”
He said: “Ward councillors have communicated with the Stronger Communities and Safety Team at the council, as well as the police.
“All parties are fully aware of the events and are working together to maintain public safety.”
