A mini-heatwave is set to hit Southampton with temperatures set to rise over the weekend.
A yellow heat health alert has been issued as wet and windy conditions will make way for blue sky and sunshine on Friday.
From Sunday, August 11, a yellow heat alert warning has been issued for the Southeast region by the Health Security Agency.
It warns significant impact on the health and social care sector are "possible" because of high temperatures, including an increased mortality across the population, particularly the over 65 age group.
It lasts until 9am on Tuesday.
Met Office forecast for Southampton this week:
- Friday, August 9 – 24 degrees, sunny intervals
- Saturday, August 10 – 24 degrees, sunny intervals
- Sunday, August 11 – 26 degrees, sunny
- Monday, August 12 – 27 degrees, sunny
- Tuesday, August 13 - 22 degrees, sunny intervals
- Wednesday, August 14 - 22 degrees, sunny intervals
- Thursday, August 15 - 21 degrees, sunny intervals
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Following a warm night for many on Sunday, Monday is expected to be warm across many areas, especially in England and Wales.
“In the southeast, it may feel hot in some places.
“Temperatures are anticipated to be higher than on Sunday, possibly reaching the low to mid-thirties.
“As we move through next week, the weather is likely to remain changeable, with frontal systems occasionally moving eastward from the Atlantic.
“Between these bands of rain, the weather will likely be quite pleasant with warm sunshine, although there may be some scattered afternoon showers in places.
