A man has been charged after large quantities of knives, firearms and other weapons were advertised for sale on Instagram

Officers received reports that a large quantity of knives, and other banned weapons like firearms were being offered up for sale on social media platforms Instagram.

Now Stefan Petrescu, 23, of High Street, Totton has been charged with publishing material which encouraged the use of a knife as a weapon.

He also faces a charge of marketing combat knife by selling; possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid/gas/electrical incapacitation device and two charges of possession of an offensive weapon in a private place. 

Petrescu appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on August 8where he was remanded in custody.

He will next appear at Southampton Crown Court on Wednesday, September 4.
