Drivers are being warned of overnight closures that are now underway at Redbridge Viaduct.
The part weekend closures of the westbound carriageway started at the weekend and are set to continue for the next month.
These are taking place from 8pm Saturday until 6am on Monday in order to allow for essential safety repairs.
The work is part of a wider £25 million scheme to refurbish the decades-old bridges which will see the A35 closed completely between Redbridge Roundabout and Rushington Roundabout with diversions in place.
The part weekend closures include:
• Saturday 17 August to Monday 19 August
• Saturday 31 August to Monday 02 September (contingency only – closure will only take place if weather impacts on the earlier scheduled work)
• Saturday 07 September to Monday 09 September (contingency only – closure will only take place if weather impacts on the earlier scheduled work)
Weekday night closures (From 8pm – until 6am the following morning)
• Tuesday 27 August – Friday 30 August
• Monday 02 September – Friday 06 September
• Monday 09 September – Wednesday 11 September
During all of the temporary closures, the southern footway of the westbound A35 will also need to be closed during the works for safety reasons.
A fully signed diversion will be in place for pedestrians, cyclists, and other users such as those using mobility scooters during the closures.
Please note that this work is weather-dependent so the programme may be subject to change at short notice.
