A man in his 30s has suffered injuries to his face after being attacked in Eastleigh.

The man was assaulted after he and a group of friends left the Station Pub and walked along the High Street towards a Kebab House at around 11.45pm last Friday.

The group of friends were then approached by another group, described as teenagers and words were exchanged.

The group of friends were then followed by the youths as they walked through Romsey Road, Leigh Park and Newtown Road before getting to George Street.

A man in his 30s, who was among the group of friends was then reported to have been attacked by one of the youths.

He was taken to hospital after suffering facial injuries.

The youths are then said to have run off in the direction of Leigh Road Recreation Ground.

Police are now reaching out to the public, appealing for anyone who may have information or who saw what happened to get in touch.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: "We are appealing for anyone who has information about this assault and the events leading up to it. Did you see these two groups in the respective areas described, and did you witness any interaction between the two groups?

"Do you live in these areas and have any Doorbell, Dash Cam or CCTV footage that may have captured any part of this incident?
