Two members of a Rainbows group in Romsey have received awards.

Eva and Poppy from the First and Second Romsey Rainbows units earned the Rainbow Gold Award, the highest accolade for their section of Girlguiding.

The girls completed activities including exploring, map-making, constructing homes for wildlife and fundraising for local charities.

Eva said: "I have made new friends, played games and laughed. I have learned so much and been a very busy bee."

For their awards, the girls presented their Rainbows journey to their units at a teddy bear picnic celebration on Tuesday, July 16.

Eva read a self-written poem, while Poppy showcased a scrapbook filled with her Rainbows memories.

Group leader Elaine Grimwood said: "I’m very proud of Eva and Poppy for completing their Rainbow Gold Awards. They are the first girls in our Romsey units to achieve this. It has been a big commitment for two years, but we have enjoyed the challenge."

The Rainbow Gold Award is the highest award for Rainbows, Girlguiding’s youngest section for girls aged four to seven.

It requires the completion of tasks across six themes, including 'Skills for My Future', 'Have Adventures' and 'Take Action'.

Girlguiding, the largest UK girls-only youth organisation, encourages volunteers of various backgrounds to help create a safe, playful and educational environment.
