A New Forest town has been ranked among the best seaside spots in the UK for food and drink according to Which?

The consumer champion surveyed more than 4,700 members earlier in the year about the best and worst seaside towns generally for 2024.

They were asked to rate the locations in a number of categories including food and drink.

Which? explained: "They rated everything from the beaches to the tourist attractions, but in some places the biggest attraction is still the perfect fish and chips or, increasingly, something more sophisticated."

Out of all the 126 locations Lymington came in 37th spot and has also ranked in the top 21 places for food and drink.

The full list of the best seaside spots for food and drink can be found on the Which? website here.

Why did Lymington rank highly for food & drink?

In the food and drink category, Lymington scored four stars out of five which meant it was featured among the best in that particular category for 2024.

Overall, it was 17th in that section, placing above the likes of Fowey, Whitstable and Padstow.

Which? added: "South East and Southern England have five of the highest-rated seaside towns for food, South West England four, Wales three, Scotland, East England, and North East England two each, and Yorkshire, North West England, and Northern Ireland one each."

Lymington itself has a fair few options to choose from if you're looking for someone to enjoy a meal or grab a pint.

On its Visit New Forest page, it says: "Tasty treats and freshly caught seafood are just some of the things that you will find on the menu here in Lymington.

"The town’s location on the Solent means that fresh fish is often caught and landed here so you can expect to see many fish and seafood dishes on offer. It’s worth coming along in the summer as well for the Lymington Seafood Festival."
