A Southampton woman has criticised her fiancé for making a “stupid” comment while on a Netflix show.
Maria is one of 30 contestants participating in the first season of Love Is Blind UK.
The show, hosted by married couple Matt and Emma Willis, sees singletons date each other in pods – unable to see each other and are left with nothing else to do but talk and take notes – with those that find love first meeting in person moments before getting engaged.
Episode four of the show saw Tom – a 38-year-old advertising consultant from London – successfully propose to 30-year-old Maria from Southampton, with the following episode showing them getting along on a romantic getaway in the Greek island of Corfu, toasting their engagement.
However, when the couple returned to the UK in episode six, there were signs of tension between the pair after Tom admitted he initially had a lower opinion of Maria because she was a make-up artist.

“I think it’s the way people build a picture of someone, I want someone to share the same values as me,” Tom said to his wife.
Less than pleased with her fiancé’s comment, Maria said: “That’s horrible, you need to be less judgmental.
“I find it bizarre that people might judge me based on what I do for work, I think that’s really stupid.
“Relationships are about compromise, and you came into this being a bit judgmental.”
Unwilling to let the comment slide, Maria added: “I’m not going to have anyone sit there and make me feel like I’m less than, because they don’t think my job is adequate for them or they don’t think I’m intelligent enough for them.
“I wouldn’t want to live with someone and share a space with them if I wasn’t certain of them.”
New episodes of the show are available on Netflix after being released weekly.
