Southampton Pride 2024 is almost upon us and one of the highlights of the celebration will be the March.

It is set to take place on Saturday, August 24 with tens of thousands of people expected to be involved.

This will kick off the pride celebrations that weekend with the march travelling from Queens Park before finishing at Guildhall Square.

The Southampton Pride website adds: "Our free community Pride March is the highlight of the event, making its way through the City Centre, through the city’s historic Bargate before heading back to the event site."

Southampton Pride 2024 March route

Participants in the March are scheduled to meet at Queens Park at around 9.45am before it sets off at around 11am.

It will go along Briton Street before turning onto the High Street where it will approach the Bargate.

The Southampton Pride website adds: "A key central focus of our Pride Photography each year, the march pauses at the Bargate for photos with our official crew and the public watching the march progress before setting off again for the final stretch towards the Southampton Pride event at Guildhall Square."

After that, the March will carry on to Above Bar Street before the route splits.

Half the participants will travel along Civic Centre Road towards Guildhall Square whilst the other half will carry on along Above Bar Street.

This happens so that road closures and disruption to the city centre are kept to a minimum.
