A construction site manager has won a coveted industry award.

Whiteley site manager Dale Athey, 32, nabbed the National House Building Council Pride in the Job Quality Award for construction work at a Whiteley Bovis Homes development.

The accolade recognises exceptional industry work, with only five per cent of UK managers chosen each year.

The award ceremony took place at Whiteley Meadows off Botley Road, with accolades being given to other quality winners as well.

Dale, who progressed from trainee assistant to site manager within four years, now stands a chance to be considered for the Seal of Excellence Award.

The site is part of the Vistry Group, and comprises 100 units.

Mr Athey said: "I left school at a young age and became an apprentice joiner for six years where I realised that the construction industry was where I wanted to work.

"Reflecting over my time as an apprentice to now being an award-winning site manager does show how far I’ve come."
