Barrhead Travel Southampton has announced an increase in this year's summer departures, compared to last year's figures.

According to the agency, this is their seventh successive month of record-breaking sales this year.

This consistent uptick in travel bookings took place throughout July and, as the British weather took a turn for the worst, holidaymakers sought out ideal deals for their summer getaways.

The agency continues to see high-volume sales for last-minute holidays for the months of September, October, and August. Holiday destinations, such as Dalaman, Tenerife, Mallorca, Costa del Sol, and Costa Blanca, prove popular amongst English holidaymakers.

All of these places share the common attraction of favourable weather and continued tourism services. In anticipation of the closing school holidays, families are moving early to secure deals for summer 2025.

Approximately four in 10 new bookings are now for summer 2025 with places such as Mallorca, Turkey, Greece, Canada, Barcelona, Alicante, Orlando, and Lanzarote, forming a list of favoured destinations.

An analysis of the group’s sales data reveals most trips booked this summer are extending beyond 10 nights. This pattern is interpreted as families looking to make the most of their school summer break.

Availability to the retail network of Barrhead Travel is seven days a week, with late opening hours and evening support through online services, call centres, and social media.

Stephanie Topping, store manager at Barrhead Travel Southampton said: "This summer, we’ve really seen a boom in bookings as the weather at home has been consistently poor. People are eager to see the sunshine and spend quality time with their families.

"There’s been great value-for-money on offer abroad – particularly in all-inclusive resorts and cruise holidays. It’s clear that holidays are still a spending priority, and customers are turning to local agents to seek advice, enjoy the best quality and price, as well as secure financial protection.

"Consistently over the past few weeks, a significant percentage of new bookings have been for summer 2025 getaways as people turn their attention to next year. Holidaymakers are booking earlier than ever in order to lock-in their preferred destinations at early-bird prices - we expect that trend to continue over the coming months."
