A busy road is set to close for seven days for urgent repair works to be completed.
Those who travel on Woodmill Lane will have to use an alternative route next week and the following week.
A “failing wall” needs to be repaired, and following the monitoring of its stability, the council determined it needed to be urgently fixed.
“This has resulted in the need to close the road to work safely as there is very little space to allow for the road to remain open”, a Southampton City Council spokesperson said.
They added: “We apologise for the short notice and inconvenience to residents.”

It will also close from Monday, September 2 to Wednesday, September 4.
The road will reopen over the weekend of Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.
During the closure, diversions will be in place.
Access will still be available to pedestrians and cyclists, but there may be a delay while some of the trees are removed on August 27.
