Violent thugs, a rule-breaking landlord, and England flag-wearing protestors are among those who have been sentenced in Southampton this month.

Throughout August, hundreds of people have passed through Southampton's two criminal courts including stalkers, drink drivers and a man who led police on a 60mph chase. 

Below is a round-up of some of the biggest cases heard over the last month:

Matthew Fielder-Taylor

The 35-year-old of Warren Avenue, Southampton was caught after leading police on a 60mph chase through the streets of Shirley. 

He was driving a Renault Megane when officers pulled up behind him on Shirley Road just before he took off at speed. 

Officers pursued him and when he was finally stopped he was found to have no licence and no insurance.

Owen Gayle

Military and martial arts-trained Gayle was arrested after he attacked a barman working at O'Neill's in Above Bar Street. 

He thought his jacket had been stolen so went to the bar, but after he was told he would have to find it himself he slapped and punched the worker. 

Police were called but Gayle hurled abuse at an officer, grabbing him around the throat, leaving a red mark on his neck.

Massoud Yeganegy

Yeganegy was hit with a £2,700 fine after he breached planning rules on a property he owns on Prince of Wales Avenue. 

He was previously given planning permission for an extension at the home under the condition that he use it as a single property. 

But after a number of complaints, planning enforcement officers attended the home and found that it was occupied by two separate tenants with the connecting door due to be blocked off.

Sam Weeks

Weeks called his ex-girlfriend a "stupid pig" and threatened to kill her during a campaign of stalking after their relationship broke down. 

The 25-year-old of Butterere Close, Southampton also tried kicking down her door and followed her on several occasions, bombarding her with messages. 

This then escalated to calling her derogatory names in the street after passing her in his car and motorbike, on two separate occasions.

Wheatley draped himself in an England flag during a protest in Grosvenor Square before "barreling" into a police officer. 

The court heard how the 40-year-old grandfather walked through a car park around a police cordon before running towards a group of anti-racism protestors. 

He was then restrained with handcuffs and spray. During the incident, he was seen shouting obscenities as well as making rude hand gestures.
