A group of travellers have been given a deadline to leave a popular park.

An unauthorised encampment was set up at Hatch Grange on August 16.

Several caravans and vehicles have been parked at the green space in West End.

More than one week on since their arrival, the group have been ordered to leave.

Posting on social media, West End Parish Council said: “We have been liaising with our solicitors to obtain a court order to ensure their removal.

“The court order has now been received and a notice has been put up by the solicitors at the entrance to Hatch Grange stating that a court hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 27 at 2pm at Southampton County Court.

“Following this, they will be issued with a ‘notice to quit’.

“We also have a team on standby to begin the clean up once the encampment has left.”
