Shoppers have been left divided as Christmas treats begin to appear on the shelves.
The festive season has slowly but surely begun at Sainsbury’s in Hedge End.
The supermarket already boasts a selection of Christmas chocolate, along with shelves filled with mince pies and panettone.
Sainsbury’s may have decked the halls, but with summer yet to end, some say the supermarket is too hasty.
In a comment on the Daily Echo Facebook page, Conor Lee said: “It’s not even Halloween yet, or are we skipping that?”
Meanwhile, Sue Whelan said that Sainsbury’s is not alone when it comes to starting the festive season.
“Dunelm has Christmas baubles out”, she said.

But others were prepared to embrace the season of goodwill – even in August.
Diana Lofts described it as a good idea, adding that her children love a build up to Christmas.
She said: “It is definitely not too early.
“My decorations go up in November after the Halloween decorations come down and my kids love it.
“Not everyone goes out to purchase everything in one go. This way you can buy things bit by bit each time you go shopping.”
Lindsay Cox said the decision “is great”, while Li Na said it is wise for shops to start selling Christmas items now.
Liz Arnold said: “It means you can buy a bit each pay day and put it away.”
