A care home hosted a community dog show to mark National Dog Day.
Maypole Bupa Care Home in Hedge End, Southampton, invited staff, friends, family, and community members to enter their dogs into a show on August 26.
The event saw residents come together to enjoy activities organised by the home.
The dog show classes included Waggiest Tail, Best Behaved, Most Obedient, Cutest Smile and Best in Show.
Residents decided which classes and activities the dogs participated in and acted as judges on the day.
Each dog received a certificate and prize for participating.
Activities coordinator at Maypole, Sophie Withers, said that the dog show was a success for the home.
She said: "The residents were thrilled to meet many new faces from the community, as well as having friendly dogs running around - we couldn’t wipe the smiles off their faces.
"Animal interaction hosts a range of benefits, including boosting mood, increasing positive emotions, and mental stimulation.
"Our event created lots of new memories and social interactions for our residents, which is always our goal."
Resident Ian Geach, aged 66, said that he had a day full of "excitement".
He said: "I loved all the dogs, and it was very difficult to decide on a winner because they all did fantastically."
Maypole Bupa Care Home welcomes residents in need of nursing or residential care, including those living with Parkinson’s.
