A world number one darts player has unveiled a new interactive darts experience at a popular Southampton boozer.

The atmosphere at O’Neill’s on Above Bar Street in Southampton was electric on Friday, August 23, as the world number one paradarts player came to open O’Neill’s new darts experience.

O’Neill’s is the UK’s first wheelchair accessible, interactive dartboard concept - marking a move forward in pub accessibility for wheelchair users.

D’hondt, with 30 titles to his name, showcased his exceptional skills while also taking the time to engage with team and locals in friendly matches.

The darts champion was also able to test out the new oche designed specifically for wheelchair-friendly height.

The accessible oche at the Southampton pub has step-free access and dual-height dartboards, ensuring that everyone can enjoy playing darts.

Speaking on the launch of the new darts concept, Vincent D’hondt said: “This accessible oche is brilliant because wheelchair players can play each other, but also non-wheelchair users too.

“It's great for inclusion, and I really enjoyed trying out all of the games.”

Guests over the age of 18 can now enjoy a 90-minute session of digital darts from just £11 per person, with six individual booths accommodating groups of up to 12 people.

“Seeing Vincent D’hondt in action on our new accessible dartboard was truly inspiring.

“We’re thrilled to offer this inclusive experience, especially at a time when the Paralympics are encouraging more people to get involved in sports.

“This launch is just the beginning of a new era of darts at O’Neill’s, where everyone can enjoy the game without barriers.”
