A sixth-form college has announced it will use an AI digital assistant to support students through their studies. 

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College in Eastleigh will use 'Barton Buddy', a new AI-powered tool to help pupils navigate college life. 

From helping them locate free computers to notifying students of deadlines and providing academic resources to help them do homework, the new software is expected to put the college at the forefront of AI advancements.

Many features are still in development though more will be added throughout the academic year. 

Rob Temple, principal of Barton Peveril, said: “The Barton Digital Assistant is a great example of utilising the power of AI to provide students with valuable information in a manner that will engage them and further enhance their experience at the College.”

First-year student Jenny Davison added that the tool is a "fantastic idea, creating a more interesting, engaging way for students to interact with the college services."

She said: “I'm proud that my college is the first to take this step, ensuring students like me have the best college experience we could ask for.”

The tool was created by Applied Data Science Partners, who have works closely with the college to develop innovative Artificial Intelligence solutions to create a more supportive environment for students and staff.
