A 'man on the wrong side of the railings' on a bridge across the M3 led to traffic being held by police.
According to Hampshire Police, they were called at 12.52am this morning (1 September) to reports of a man on the wrong side of the railings of the bridge across the M3 between junctions 4 for Farnborough and 5 for Hook.
A police spokesperson added: "The carriageway was closed while officers attended the area.
"A search was carried out but the man was not located on the bridge."
At 1.42am, National Highways tweeted: "Traffic has now been released in both directions on the #M3 in #Hampshire between J4a (#Farnborough) and J5 (#Hook). Thanks for your patience if you were held up. Delays are now clearing."
This followed a closure of the M3 yesterday north of Winchester after a man was seriously injured in a crash, and a man was found injured on the motorway in a suspected hit-and-run incident on Friday, closing the road just north of Eastleigh.
