Police in Gosport have sealed shut a home after months of drug related anti-social behaviour that plagued residents in the area. 

Hampshire Constabulary said residents at the property in Parklands Close had done nothing to stop drug-related activity. Magistrates granted the closure order.

Officers were assisted by Gosport Bough Council's housing team who were in attendance to support police is sealing shut the home.

The property will be shut for three months from Friday, August 30 - in this time police officers have said they will apply for a full closure of the premises.

Writing on Facebook a police spokesperson said: "Officers from Gosport Neighbourhoods Central team assisted Gosport borough housing today in having the courts approve a full closure on a Gosport address.

"This follows many months of drug related anti-social behaviour at the address which the residents took no action to stop.

"The impact on the neighbours should not be underestimated and this closure will bring them some respite.

"The closure is for three months from today during which time Gosport Borough Council will apply for a full closure.

"We are working hard with our partners to rid Gosport of drugs and the issues around it, if you have any information that will help please report it online via the Hampshire Constabulary website."
