Indie legends The Lightning Seeds have added a Southampton date to their autumn anniversary tour.

Fresh from an appearance at Victorious Festival over the bank holiday weekend, frontman Ian Broudie and the band will bring a lifetime of hit tunes to The 1865 on November 20.

Thirty five years since debut single Pure and 30 years since their million-selling album Jollification, they will release a new greatest hits compilation.

With the big news of the Oasis reunion, here is another band that helped define the 1990s and beyond with their storytelling of English life set to catchy hooks and choruses.

Together with Fantasy Football hosts Frank Skinner and David Baddiel, The Lightning Seeds captured the spirit of Euro ‘96 with their eternal anthem Three Lions.

The band are also known for the song Life of Riley, once the theme to the goal of the month competition on Match of the Day and written about Broudie’s son Riley, who now plays guitar with the band.
