An energy efficiency firm is taking a leap into housebuilding, launching an affordable eco-housing concept in Gosport.
Recently SCIS Group revealed its intentions to build high quality, cost-effective, and eco-conscious homes.
The firm got the green light to construct two three-bedroom houses in Gosport with planning permission granted.
Nic Gillanders, Chairman of the SCIS Group said: "The team at SCIS has been meticulously planning this project for some time and we’re really pleased and excited to launch the pilot in Gosport. The need for more affordable homes across the country is well documented, as is the importance of ensuring that future housing is built with energy efficiency in mind.
"SCIS is thrilled to be contributing to the creation of affordable housing that is beautifully designed with strong eco-credentials in the Hampshire area.
"We’ve also made the decision to prioritise the affordability of the homes for the local community, whereby they might not usually have the option to consider a home that features environmentally friendly systems such as heat pumps and solar panelling.
"These homes are more than just a commitment to sustainability; they are a practical example of how eco-homes can truly be the future of construction.
"By integrating cutting-edge energy-saving technologies with cost-effective building practices, we aim to prove that sustainable living is within everyone’s reach."
These properties will act as prototypes for a scheme striving to demonstrate that affordable housing can also boast innovative design elements that meet UK Net Zero targets.
These residences will fulfil the eco-friendly criteria stipulated by SCIS.
Each property will achieve an EPC ‘A’ rating, have low carbon emissions and cost as little as £50 per month in energy bills.
They will incorporate cutting-edge energy-efficient systems such as air source heat pumps, solar panels, insulation, ventilation systems, rainwater recycling, hot water recovery/recycling, underfloor heating, and energy-efficient windows and doors.
