The trial of a man accused of having sex with a dog has been adjourned for a second time.

Terence Bennett, 66, is alleged to have caused the dog unnecessary suffering.

It is said he was holding the dog and “thrusting into the rear of it in a sexual motion”.

He appeared in court last October when it was adjourned.

The trial was due to start at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, however following a medical emergency it was re-adjourned until April 2.

Previously speaking to magistrates, Bennett said the allegations are “not true”, adding: “None of it is true”.

It comes after police were called to reports of a "man having sex with a dog" in Cornwell Close, Gosport, at around 8pm on October 27 in 2021.

The dog was seized and taken into the care of kennels.

Bennett was given unconditional bail to appear at the court on April 2 for a rearranged trial.

He denies the charge.
