A Southampton man who lost his dad and grandma to cancer has raised £1200 during an event which saw a Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist perform.

Taylor Wilson, 29, lost his dad, Jason, 51, and grandma Chris, 69, within the space of three months due to cancer.

The 29-year-old from Shirley has held a number of fundraisers for Mountbatten Hospice, West End, as his nan and dad both received end-of-life care from the hospice.

Also featuring at the event on July 27 was Eva Iglesias, a semi-finalist for series eight of Britain’s Got Talent, a children’s dance group from Belinda Dance Academy and drag artist Clare Dellon.

During this event, £1200 was raised.

Having previously held a raffle and shaved his head, this time, Taylor held the event which included a bouncy castle, a BBQ, a face painting stall as well as stalls for local businesses and a treats van at the View Bar Southampton.

This was the fifth fundraiser organised for the Hospice.

Speaking to the Echo, he said: “I have only raised the Mountbatten because of the care they gave my nan and dad.

“I have always wanted to do this for them because the care they gave my dad and nan means the world to me. Every time I have done this it has also said it’s not my first or my last.

“They deserve every penny donated to them.”

He added: “The care they gave my dad and nan wasn’t second to none. It was the best care they could have received during that time of their life. Also, the support they offered to the family after the passing was also amazing.

“This event was all about giving back to them, we had people come from Poole to take part in the event which also had family cared for by Mountbatten.”
