SAINTS have confirmed that winger Sam Edozie has moved to Belgian Pro League side RSC Anderlecht on loan for the 2024/25 season.

The 21 year old, who has played 63 times for Saints since his transfer from Manchester City in 2022, scoring six goals, now moves to the Belgian side.

Edozie was set for a temporary spell at Rangers but the Scottish giants did not complete the move in time ahead of the UK deadline.

The two clubs had agreed a loan fee but Rangers opted to pull out of the deal with Edozie on his way to Glasgow and with not enough time to move elsewhere.

Saints had been open to Edozie's exit this summer after re-signing Ryan Fraser and adding loanee Maxwell Cornet in the former Man City man's position.

A Saints statement added: "We wish Sam good luck for the season ahead in Anderlecht’s Jupiler Pro League and Europa League campaigns."

Edozie, who signed a five-year contract for more than £5million in 2022, will return to St Mary's next summer with Europa League experience.

Last week, manager Russell Martin said: "I was gutted for Sam because it was too late to then find another opportunity to go and play football.

"He wasn't in the squad on Saturday because of the speculation, but also Sam Amo-Ameyaw deserves to be in the squad more than he does right now.

"Unfortunately, I'm the guy who takes that opportunity of playing away. It's the hardest bit of the job so we'll have a chat on Monday."
