Stephanie Heather and partner Lee Fitzpatrick have taken over the reins at The Peg and Parrot in Rumbridge Street, the locals favourite which was run by her grandparents Ann and Dennis Cremin in the 1990s.

Stephanie's mum Kirsty Maddison, the landlady at The Anchor Inn in Eling, has had her name above the door for the last seven years, appointing her daughter and partner Lee six weeks ago.

Lee, who will manage the pub, had never previously pulled a pint, although Stephanie will be there to support him with her ten years of experience behind the bar at The Elephant & Castle on Commercial Road nearby. 

Plus grandmother Ann has been busy running errands for the new publicans and giving advice. Sadly, grandfather Dennis passed away earlier this year.

Stephanie doesn't remember much about her grandparents tenure, which started in 1990, four years before she was born, but she is thrilled to be back at the pub.

She told the Daily Echo: "Our family has now been involved in the Peg and Parrot for 35 years! 

"We're not going to make too many changes to begin with as it's fairly new for us both and we know people like the pub the way it is."

A finalist in the Daily Echo Pub of the Year competition earlier this year, the pub is a wet led boozer on a town centre street littered with takeaway options.

It attracts locals and tradesmen working in the area who enjoy the draught Carling and Moretti, as well as the bottled cider deals two for £6.50 or four for £12.

The Peg and Parrot hosts live music on the first and last weekends of every month and also enjoys a regular quiz night. 

A crib night has just been launched and male and female darts players are being recruited for two new teams.

A pumpkin competition and Christmas raffle are coming soon, in a bid to appeal to more families.
