Drivers in Southampton have been issued a warning as a Met Office yellow weather warning for rain is in force.
With heavy rain forecast throughout Southampton for much of the day adverse conditions are expected to persist throughout the evening, with Southampton Travel warning of localised flooding in the city.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, a spokesperson said: “Due to heavy rain this evening, localised flooding may be seen around the city.
“Our team will be monitoring our flooding hotspots throughout the night, please plan your journeys and check the weather warnings before travelling.”

The Met Office has forecast rain in Southampton until 10pm tonight, before it returns from 5am on Friday, September 6, for much of the day.
A yellow weather warning is in place for rain until 11.45pm tonight, with a second yellow weather warning coming into effect all day on Friday.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
“There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.”
They added: “Where flooding occurs, there is a chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.”
