A Japanese warship has docked in Southampton.
The JS Shimakaze, a guided missile destroyer which has now been converted into a training vessel, sailed up the Southampton Water and docked near the QEII Cruise Terminal on Thursday morning.
The ship, commissioned in 1988, arrived in the city at 8.49am, having departed from Hamburg on September 2 and spending several hours on Wednesday night anchored off the coast of Gosport.

Its imposing grey frame was accompanied by two tugboats.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the ship, was in the city as part of a routine port visit.
According to data from MarineTraffic, before docking into the city, the warship sailed off the coast of Gosport, past Lee-on-the-Solent before entering Southampton Water.
It is not known when it will depart.
