It's glitzy, glamorous and pure genie-us!
This exuberant production of Aladdin is family entertainment at its best. You've got all the magic of a top notch Disney show with plenty of panto and cabaret touches thrown in.
It's a complete feast for the senses, a tale which transports you to the souks of Agrabah with Arabian sunsets, palaces, snake charmers, belly dancers and so much gold!

Sticking fairly closely to the story from the celebrated 1992 animated film starring the voice of Robin Williams, Aladdin and his pals are jovial street hawkers who will do anything for a bit of cash - or food.
A twist of fate sees the poor orphan wind up in the most opulent cave you'll ever see with a genie who has emerged from a magical lamp to grant him three wishes.
With the genie's help, Aladdin transforms into Prince Ali to win the heart of Princess Jasmine, who desires a life beyond the walls of the palace. There's a touch of 21st Century girl power thrown in here for good measure.
The central pair of Gavin Adams (Aladdin) and Desmonda Cathabel (Jasmine) had great chemistry and both could certainly belt out a tune. The performance of A Whole New World on a magic carpet high above the Mayflower stage with a backdrop of thousands of shimmering stars was truly a beautiful moment.
Aladdin also had a lovely 'bromance' with the Genie. I just loved the energy, excitement and cheerfulness of Yeukayi Ushe, who shone in the role, especially when he was finally freed from the lamp after some 10,000 years and donned his Hawaiian shirt ready for the holiday of a lifetime!
The ensemble numbers were a delight with so much going on you could easily have missed someone swallowing a sword in the corner!
The new compositions fit well within the beloved tale, the stand out song being Aladdin's solo of Proud of Your Boy.
It's a highly polished production with plenty of pizzazz playing to a delighted audience who rose for a standing ovation at the finale while sparkly ticker tape dropped into the auditorium from above.
Aladdin was a huge hit in the West End and on Broadway and it certainly sparkles in Southampton where it runs until September 29.
