A man who fell 15ft off a bridge into a muddy moat at Portchester Castle was rescued by firefighters.

Crews rushed to attend the scene at the historic site just before 7pm on Sunday.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Porchester, Fareham, Cosham, and Eastleigh worked quickly to reach the man, navigating challenging conditions.

"After the successful rescue, the man was handed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

"Firefighters left the scene shortly before 8pm."
