A disabled man from Eastleigh and his brother have appeared on a new BBC gameshow.

Ben Warner surprised the disability charity Sense with a donation of £3,750 after winning an episode of The Answer Run, hosted by Jason Manford.

The 35-year-old underwent an operation at one month old which caused brain damage, meaning he lives with a learning disability and other disabilities.

He works for Fleet District Council and volunteers at Southampton Hospital.

Ben said: "It means so much to raise this amount of money for Sense and I hope lots of others will benefit from it.

"As someone with multiple disabilities, I wanted to be able to give something back and give other disabled children the best start in life.

"I’m so happy that we won the show, and I was able to donate this money.”

The Answer Run sees three pairs swipe on timed general knowledge questions to win a cash prize.

Ben appeared alongside his brother Jez, 33, a junior doctor, successfully answering a string of 50/50 questions to beat the other two pairs and take home the cash prize.

Ben and Jez, along with their brother Laurence, visited Sense’s office in London to learn more about their work and present the charity with a cheque.

Caroline Twohig from the charity said: “We were stunned when Ben let us know that he had won a BBC gameshow and wanted to donate half his winnings to us – it’s the first time any of us can remember something like this happening at Sense.

“We’re very honoured Ben chose to support us, and it was a pleasure to get to meet him and his brothers at our office.

"This money will make a big difference in supporting people who live with multiple disabilities to live full, happy lives.”
