A Japanese warship has left Southampton after her four-day stay at the city's port.
JS Shimakaze, a guided missile destroyer converted into a training vessel, arrived in Southampton last Thursday.
The grey-framed ship, first commissioned in 1988, sailed up Southampton Water and docked near the QEII Cruise Termina.
She departed again at 4.39pm yesterday (September 9) and is currently in the English Channel 27 miles off the coast of Portland near Weymouth.
Her next destination is Hiroshima.
The ship arrived in the city at around 8.49am on September 5, having left Hamburg in Germany on September 2.
She also spent several hours on Wednesday night anchored off the coast of Gosport.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the ship was in the city as part of a routine port visit.
