A venomous spider that can deliver a painful bite to humans has been spotted in a garden in Southampton.
This picture was shared with the Daily Echo's Camera Club and has caused much speculation on social media for its large size and big hairy legs.
Many in the comments said it looked like a Green Fang Tube Web but the Hampshire Wildlife Trust has now revealed the identity of the mysterious spider.
A spokesperson for the Hampshire Wildlife Trust told the Echo: “Can't say I'd be pleased to find that in my house.
“We believe it is a Snakes-back Tube web Spider (Segestria senoculata).
“The green-fanged is roughly twice the size and much less common.”

The Snakes-back Tubeweb Spider build their webs as tunnels – often in small holes and crevasse.
They seize insects such as flies and wasps and pull them backwards into the tube, deliver a bite and wait while their venom takes effect.
The spider is a robust species capable of piercing human skin.
The bite is said to be painful but not dangerous to humans.
To avoid being bitten, do not stick your fingers anywhere near the spider or its tube.
