The sensational feel-good musical Mamma Mia! will launch a new UK tour in Southampton next year. 

From West End to global phenomenon, Mamma Mia! is Judy Craymer’s ingenious vision of staging the story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs with a sunny, funny tale of a mother, a daughter and three possible dads unfolding on a Greek island idyll.

It will run at Mayflower Theatre from Friday October 24 to Saturday November 8, 2025.

Creator and producer Judy Craymer told the Daily Echo: "It's fabulous that Mamma Mia! will be returning to Southampton. The much-loved story inspired by ABBA's irresistible hits is celebrating 25 years in the West End and continues to thrill audiences around the world. We can’t wait to again visit this great city launching the new UK Tour and welcome back audiences to our Greek island idyll!"

Set on a Greek island paradise, a story of love, friendship and identity is cleverly told through the timeless songs of ABBA.

Sophie’s quest to discover the father she’s never known brings her mother face to face with three men from her distant romantic past on the eve of a wedding they’ll never forget.

This irresistibly funny show has been thrilling audiences all around the world. Now in its 26th year, Mamma Mia! has played over 10,000 performances in London’s West End.

In 2011, Mamma Mia! became the first Western musical ever to be staged in Mandarin in the People’s Republic of China. It has been seen live on stage by over 70 million people across the world and turned into two record-breaking movies.

Mamma Mia! The Movie became the highest grossing live action musical film of all time upon its release in 2008. A second film, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, opened in July 2018 and is the most successful live musical movie sequel of all time.

Tickets for the show will be on sale to Mayflower members from Friday (September 20) with general sale getting underway on Wednesday October 2.
