A group of Romsey Ramblers have worked to clear an overgrown footpath.

The footpath, Romsey Extra Footpath 10, runs alongside the canal, north of Fishlake Meadows, to meet the A3057 just south of Timsbury.

While not used much as a through route, the footpath allows walkers to see the wildlife near the canal and allows walkers to explore close to the Fishlake Meadows.

However, the path passes through an area of light scrub, which means it quickly becomes overgrown with nettles, brambles and other vegetation.

According to Hampshire’s Rights of Way management system, the route was reported “almost impassable” in recent weeks.

So, armed with brush-cutters, hedge trimmers and shears, seven members of Romsey Ramblers set about clearing the route.

The footpath is now accessible all the way to the A3057.
