Southampton City Council has "verbally requested" that a group of traveller leave after they set up a camp on green space near Sainsbury's in Lordshill.
Yesterday it was reported that a group of travellers had to up camp at an area of green space next to the Lordshill Library and Sainsbury's superstore.
The council has now offered an update on how it is dealing with the encampment and said that the group have been requested to leave.
A number of vehicles have been parked on the grass, including three large tow caravans and two vans.
The council also stated that any crimes or anti-social behaviour should be reported to police.

A council spokesperson said: "Southampton City Council's Community Safety Team have completed statutory welfare checks with the occupants of the unauthorised encampment at Lordshill Library.
"The occupants have been verbally requested to leave the site.
"A report has been submitted to a senior Council manager with recommendations on how the site should be dealt with.
"Please report any anti-social behaviour and / or criminality to the police."
A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: "We are aware of an unauthorised encampment at the junction of Lordshill Centre East and Lordshill Centre West in Southampton.
"We are working closely with the landowners to seek a suitable resolution."
