A national airline has suddenly cancelled its flights from Southampton Airport in a shock move.
British Airways (BA) has confirmed it has suspended its summer 2025 flights from the airport.
The reason behind the decision is yet to be confirmed by the airline.
It has been reported that passengers were contacted last night and told their flights had been cancelled.
There are no flights from Southampton available for summer 2025 on the BA website.
The announcement is only four months after BA revealed two new routes from the city – Bergerac and Majorca.
Currently, the national flag carrier, under its subsidary BA City Flyer, flies from Southampton to Bergerac, Faro, Malaga and Majorca in the summer at weekends, and to Chambery and Bergerac in the winter.
A spokesperson from the airline said: “We are suspending our summer 2025 operations from Southampton Airport and contacting any affected customers with options including rebooking on an alternative flight with us or another airline or a full refund.”

It comes after the airport’s controversial runway extension was completed last September.
The 164m extension was added to the existing runway and the airport’s northern boundary fence.
The airport previously said its existing runway was "one of the shortest in the UK" and did not allow the use of larger planes.
Paul Holmes, who was MP for Eastleigh at the time of the extension, was a vocal supporter.
He said it would “unlock potential” and would encourage more airlines and destinations to the airport.
A spokesperson for Southampton Airport said: “Clearly it’s disappointing when any route is removed.
"However, we are in constant dialogue with airlines regarding the introduction of new services and that includes backfilling the routes withdrawn by British Airways.”
