Bursledon, a riverside haven, was the epitome of summer bliss as a sudden heatwave swept through the region. Villagers and visitors alike flocked to the shores of the River Hamble to soak up the sun and enjoy the thrilling festivities of the annual regatta.

Celebrating its 134th anniversary, this nautical extravaganza brought together the three waterside villages of Swanwick, Bursledon, and Warsash for a friendly competition of maritime skills.

This year's event featured a diverse array of activities, including the beloved sailing competitions, a vibrant waterborne carnival, and the whimsical children's fancy dress parade.

The carnival's theme, "Wet 'n' Wild West," added a touch of adventure with events like a wagon train race, lassoing, and a thrilling wet 'n' wild bucking bronco competition.

As a sneak peek into next year's festivities, the regatta showcased a celebration of the bicentennial of the Battle of Trafalgar, a momentous event for the Hamble River community.

The Jolly Sailor pub, famed for its appearance in the television series "Howard's Way," played a pivotal role in the regatta, ensuring a steady flow of refreshments to quench the thirst of attendees on this scorching September 4, 2004, day.

The grand finale, a magical torchlight parade of dinghies between Land's End Hard and the Elephant Boatyard, created a breathtaking spectacle.

The day concluded with a dazzling fireworks display, leaving attendees with lasting memories of this unforgettable summer celebration.

This year’s regatta, now called Hamble Valley Reggata, took place earlier this month
