A brand-new bar and restaurant is set to open in place of an Italian restaurant that’s been closed for months.

After Puccini's in Shirley Road closed down on Friday, May 3, the building has been left vacant.

But posters advertised in the windows of the premises have teased a new business opening soon.

The poster reads: “Opening soon – get into the vibe – Vibe Lounge, bar and restaurant.”

No official date has been given for when it will open.

Located on the high street, the new bar will be one of several located on the busy stretch of road, including Clockwork Bar, Craft 101, and Cozy Seven, that have all opened in the last 12 months.

Puccini’s closed down following an incident in which police arrested six people on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

They have been bailed until November 3.

Now under new ownership, they were able to keep the premises' licence after a decision by Southampton City Council's licensing sub-committee.

They noted the hard work that the new owners had done to secure the licence, adding: "The new premises licence holder satisfied the sub-committee that any future sub-letting will be done only after any prospective tenant has been approved by the police as to suitability to hold a licence."
