A Southampton family are desperately pleading for help to find their cat who escaped its new home after just 24 hours.

Dina Fedosejeva, 26, has lived with her partner and 3-year-old son in St Denys since August.

The family decided to get a pet at their new home, but after just 24 hours, their one-and-a-half-year-old black and white cat, Zango, has now gone missing.

The family had travelled to Portsmouth to collect Zango from a lady who could not longer look after him, bringing him to their home in St Denys where Zango was very shy in his new surroundings.

The mother of one told the Echo: “He was meant to be my son’s little kitty for his present and now the situation has turned into a panic.

“Zango was very shy and spend much of his time hiding under the furniture and not wanting to be approached.

“We gave him some space and thought he would soon settle in.”

Dina added: “My little boy was so upset and calling his name outside, hoping that he might show up.

“We just have no idea where he might go – he does respond to his name when he is called.

“Thank you to in advance for keeping an eye out.”

The family are now asking those in Southampton, particularly in the St Denys area, to get in touch with the hope that Zango can be reunited with the family.

Zango is described as having bright yellow eyes, a white spot around his nose and between his eyes and white chest, with the majority of huis fur being black.
