A man is fighting for his life in hospital after a crash on the Itchen Bridge, which has led to an arrest.
The collision happened shortly before 7.15pm yesterday (Wednesday, September 25) and involved a motorcycle and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, suffered a life-threatening head injury and is in hospital.
Hampshire police confirmed the motorcyclist, a 31-year-old man from Southampton, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Hampshire police are now appealing for witnesses.
Their statement said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a collision in Southampton just before 7.15pm yesterday.
“As part of our investigation, the motorcycle rider, a 31-year-old man from Southampton, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody at this time.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, in particular anyone who may have dash-cam footage.
