Free live music all over the city and more - it's another great weekend in store in Southampton and around Hampshire.

In Southampton...

Southampton's biggest free music festival is back - and it's bigger than ever before.

Music in the City is set to return to the streets of Southampton for its 16th outing this weekend.

The much-loved pop up event will bring all manner of live music to a variety of weird and wonderful venues all over the city on Saturday and Sunday (September 28 and 29).

Enjoy 317 performances from 302 acts featuring 1703 musicians in 60 venues over one weekend.

Organisers have promised it will be the biggest event yet, with a bumper Sunday programme planned.

At Mayflower Theatre...

(Image: Mayflower Theatre) It's your last chance to see Aladdin, the classic Disney musical which has been delighting Southampton audiences for weeks. 

The spectacular West End and Broadway show comes from the producers that brought you The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Frozen.

Already seen by over 14 million people worldwide, this exuberant production, based on the 1992 animated film is filled with unforgettable magic, comedy, breath-taking sets and dazzling costumes. It also features new music, alongside all the smash hit songs by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, Friend Like Me, A Whole New World, One Jump Ahead, Prince Ali, and Arabian Nights.

It runs until Sunday.

At St Mary's...

Remi Allen's side will be looking to improve on last weekend's match against Blackburn Rovers, which saw them dominate but go down 1-0 to the visitors. 

The men travel to Bournemouth on Monday in what is as close as they get to a Premier League derby.

At Houghton Lodge...

Nestled in the picturesque Test Valley, the gardens will transform into an apple-lover's paradise, offering a delightful blend of education, entertainment and tradition.

With over 32 apple tree varieties at Houghton Lodge Gardens, including the world-record-holding espaliered pear tree 'Beurre Diel’, Apple Day is a celebration of many ancient varieties that can no longer be found in shops and supermarkets. 

Engage with renowned horticulturist Mr. Chris Bird, M.Hort (RHS) of Sparsholt College, and his team as they share their expertise on apple tree growing, cultivation, pruning, and identification. Not sure if you have a ‘cooker or an eater’ in your garden? Bring your mystery apples for expert analysis and learn the true identity of your own garden's harvest. There will also be the chance to view and taste the many different varieties and participate in an ancient wassail ceremony, toasting the trees in the orchard for a bountiful future harvest.

For young adventurers, a magical Golden Apple lies hidden in the gardens. Uncover the ‘Wish Trail’ clues hidden within the gardens to find the rarest apple of all-find it and make a wish.

Hampshire's own Michael O'Leary will return along with his captivating folktales to entertain and delight visitors. 

Visitors to Apple Day will also enjoy the vibrant energy of the Red Stags Morris dancers.

The Simply British rally returns to the New Forest on Sunday.

All owners of British cars and motorcycles are invited to drive into the Beaulieu parkland and park up for what promises to be a superb day out for both owners and enthusiasts.

From Sunbeam, Austin, Riley and Triumph, to Rover, Alvis, Lagonda, Morgan and more, any vehicle built in Britain, or by a British manufacturer, is welcome to join the display.
