Police officers attending a crash sniffed out a "significant" amount of Class A drugs.
A 19-year-old man from Southampton has now been arrested after the find.
Hampshire Constabulary was called to a two-car crash on Winchester Road, near the junction with Ashwood Gardens, on Thursday evening.
One of the responding officers quickly noticed a large amount of cash inside one of the vehicles, prompting police to undertake a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
It revealed a "significant quantity of suspected Class A drugs" and the 19-year-old from Southampton was arrested by police.

Also found was cash and drugs paraphernalia, the force said.
A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "A 19-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
"He remains in police custody at the current time and our enquiries are ongoing today."
There were no injuries reported in the crash, which occured at 8.15pm.
