The Stokes Bay Women's Institute raised more than £766 at the 34th annual Michaelmas Fayre.

The money will go to the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) Gosport, which monitors the harbour and surrounding waters.

The NCI will use the funds to purchase an additional CCTV camera to extend its surveillance range.

The goods were sold to regular customers who come with large shopping bags to purchase winter supplies.

The Stokes Bay WI said: "We started sales before the Fayre opened as we have our regulars every year who come with large shopping bags to buy sufficient quantities of their favourite choices to see them through the winter."

It operated under the autumn sunshine, which helped the WI to exceed last year's total.

Angela MacCallum, president of Stokes Bay WI, said: "It is a real team effort with those who provided everything from jam jars to produce, the talented cooks who made the preserves and not forgetting the bakers among our members who offered delicious pies, scones, crumbles and other goodies.

"Plants too had been grown especially for the event and the smell of our lavender bags I am sure drew people to our stall."
