A major road that is set to be closed for six weeks for road works faces yet more work once this has been completed.
Allington Lane has been shut between Oaktree Park and Itchen Valley Country Park since September 16 while Hampshire County Council carries out roadworks.
These include footway resurfacing and other improvements and are due to finish on October 28.

At the time, councillor Steve Broomfield said: “On behalf of Hampshire Highways, I can only apologise for the disruption this will cause."
But drivers who use Allington Lane are not out of the woods yet when it comes to closures.
Southern Water is now due to carry out works further up the road, near Fir Tree Lane.
A 2.15 kilometre stretch will be closed at all times of the day between November 4 and November 8, just a week after the county council's highway teams are set to leave the road.
Allington Lane is a major road linking West End to Fair Oak.
Southern Water has been approached for comment.
