A family have been left £1,000 out of pocket after booking a birthday party at a Southampton play area that has since gone into liquidation.
After suddenly shutting its doors on September 13, it was revealed on Monday that the Injoy Centre in Ocean Village had gone into liquidation leaving customers in the dark.
One family from Chandler's Ford had booked a party for their 6-year-old, with 16 children set to attend.
The family made a special birthday reservation at Injoy as it was "the children’s top soft play area in the city".
After paying £650 for the party, the mother was shocked to find out on Facebook that the company had closed.
The mum, who wanted to remain unnamed, said: “We were absolutely mortified, and the children were just devastated.
“Injoy have made no real effort to contact customers just to let us know the situation – the company was happy to take our money, and I feel that is just wrong.
“Had we not been on social media, we could still be blissfully unaware and have turned up outside.
“We are just heartbroken for the kids.”

The mum said she had em“We are just heartbroken for the kids.”ailed the company six times and had tried to phone the company on a number of occasions, with no reply.
Now the family have forked out an additional £350 on another soft play area in the area leaving them £1,000 out of pocket.
The mother continued: “We are livid – just so furious.
“I think those behind the company ought to be ashamed of themselves – to take £650 of a hard-working family just before closing its doors is just wrong.
“If they at least bothered to reach out to us it might have softened the blow.”
In a statement released on Monday, the company said: “For those who are owed money or have outstanding bookings, we have passed all relevant customer details to our appointed liquidator.
“They will be in contact to provide further information and assist with any queries related to refunds or credits.”
