A former Southampton player and football legend has visited a student with a passion for football at Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill.

Known for his career with both Arsenal and Southampton FC, staff and students from Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill gave football legend Theo Walcott a warm welcome.

The football legend visited the school last week to meet Cam, who has made significant strides with the support of Saints Foundation.

Cam spoke to Walcott about his school and football journey and the positive impact Saints Foundation has had on Cam’s school life.

The academy’s Interim Principal, Simon Firth, said it was a pleasure to host Walcott and applauded the work of the Saints Foundation for its impact on students like Cam.

Mr Firth said: “We are beyond grateful to have had Theo Walcott visit Oasis Academy Lord's Hill.

"Having Theo back in Southampton, the city where he launched his incredible career, and seeing him connect with our students reminds us of the strong ties he has with this community.

“His journey from here to the top of football is a powerful example for our students, showing them that no dream is out of reach.

“Theo’s visit is a celebration of both his legacy and the bright future ahead for our students, proving once again that our city’s strength lies in its people and the opportunities we create together.”

The football player’s visit to the school came ahead of the upcoming Saints Legends XI vs. Russell Martin XI Charity Football Match, taking place at St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday, October 13.

The match will raise funds for three charities, including Saints Foundation.

Sam Roberts, a representative from Saints Foundation, works at Oasis Academy Lords Hill as part of the Community Champions initiative.

This program places Saints Foundation staff in local schools, helping students who struggle in traditional classroom settings to build self-esteem and achieve their potential.

By integrating the influence of Southampton Football Club, the initiative aims to foster new possibilities for students both in and outside the classroom.
